Self-Leveling Pool Table On Cruise Ship

This is a gyroscopic, self-leveling pool table aboard the cruise ship “Radiance of the Seas”. This video was taken during a trip back to New Zealand in rough weather in December 2011.

Four things:

  1. Those seas must have been really rough for the table to move that much.
  2. The technology is pretty amazing. Note how the balls roll true, and never move while the table is moving up and to the side.
  3. I think trying to play pool on this table during weather would make me more seasick.
  4. These guys are terrible billiards players.

Very Cool and Mind-bending Scuba Diving Video

I have watched the entire video twice, and I’m still not sure how they made this video.

I don’t want to give anything away, so just trust me – watch this video and see if you can figure out how these scuba divers created this video.

All I can tell you is that they are diving in the winter time in the “beautiful Lake Saarijärvi” in Vaala, Finland.

Music Video: Sail by AWOLNATION

This version of AWOLNATION’s song Sail by is not the official version but it’s one of the best remakes that I’ve seen.

It starts out very artistically and the woman lip synching the words is incredibly…riveting. Then about a half way through the video, it takes a absurd  turn which makes it all the more classic.

Cool: Word Lens Real-time Language Translation App

According to Quest Visual’s website, “the video is absolutely unaltered, showing the app in action”, but some of the comments on YouTube say that it may not work exactly as well as the video implies. Regardless of whether this version works perfectly or not, it is a neat glimpse of the future for the world traveler / business person.

My favorite YouTube comment was “Cool – now make it translate those annoying captchas for me.”

Guy Surfs 30-foot Wave…at Night!

…or Something I would never, ever do – even if I had the skill to do it.

Shows a guy surfing a 30-foot wave with a glowing light strapped to his back and it's pitch black at night

Of the things that I am irrationally afraid of, swimming in the ocean at night is near the top of the list.

So surfing several miles off shore in 30 foot waves is beyond my comprehension – regardless of whether I have a neon light strapped to my back and there is a helicopter hovering overhead.
